Mono Sodium Glutamat



Today’s rapid development of technology and science on industrial sector has resulted more products to deliver.  Food industry also affected with new technology and research. There are various product of foods that produce nowadays, one of these items is MSG or Mono Sodium Glutamat. Some people believed that it is a breakthrough invention of food’s research and development, meanwhile some other people argued in this opinion. 

Mono Sodium Glutamat was invented in 1960s by Japanese researcher. Since then, mass production of MSG started to established in many countries. Of course, there are several advantages of this newly invented product. First of all, MSG helps food industries to create more tastes and also new product. For instance, there are a lot of instant meals and instant seasoning which contain MSG on them. Secondly, MSG somehow make life easier, especially in kitchen and cooking area. We can save more time for cook by using MSG. Lastly, industrialization that created by MSG has provided more work vacancies, and it is definitely contributed to nation’s economic development. 

On the other hand, MSG have disadvantages to society in terms of health problems. This is due to artificial chemical that used to produce MSG. Researchers found some chemicals that contained in MSG may block neuron’s activity. It is resulted in less brain’s ability. Another bad effect from MSG consumption is that it can cause serious digestion problem. Because these chemicals can alter natural environment of human’s ulcer. 

Despite of several advantages and drawbacks in MSG consumption. Utilization of this product in today’s society is indispensable. However, we need to put more consideration before we use MSG for sake of our health and our future generation.
